Hello Dance Parents!!! Your child’s first ballet class is an exciting moment and getting the right slippers for your young dancer is really important. If your child’s slippers are not prepared properly they could become a distraction or even hurt your child’s feet.  We’ve created this video and the following guidlines to ensure that you child’s slippers are the best fit for your son or daughter. Here are some tips to follow when looking to purchase your first ballet slippers for your young child: Ballet Slipper Design: Always remember that a ballet slipper is not a night slipper Slippers should be made of either canvas or leather The sole of the slippers should either be split or full, but full are more typical There should be an elastic strap around the ankle and an elastic drawstring Colors of the slippers are primarily pink for girls and black for boys Where to Purchase: The best place to buy them are at a local dance store or dance studio so that dancers can try them on in person However, slippers can still be purchased online Fitting Slippers: You can get a slipper that is a little bit larger that the child’s foot size so that he or she can grow into it But you should not get a slipper that is more than half a size larger than the child’s shoe size There shouldn’t be more than a quarter inch of extra room in the shoe Drawstring Guidelines: Don’t tie the drawstring in a bow Tie the drawstring in a double knot Cut the drawstring about an inch and a half...

Be part of the competition team. Be part of the production number. Any child 8+ is eligible. Mr. David and Mr. Ronald team up to create the most fantastic dance ever. The requirement is only 2 classes (1 ballet & 1 Jazz or Hip-Hop). Production number rehearsals are on Saturday from 12:30-1:15. Theatre Camps

Theatre camps for children are offered by the Dance Connection in Hillborough, NJ 08844. They are performing arts camps and summer day camps that run for four weeks. Children can take one week, two weeks, three weeks, or all four weeks. Boys and girls age five, age six, age seven, age eight, age nine, age ten, and age eleven, in kindergarten, first grade, second grade, third grade, fourth grade, and fifth grade are invited to attend our theatre camp. The curriculum for our theatre camps includes scene creation, dance class, vocal class, acting class, and performing. Children age five, age six, age seven, age eight, age nine, age ten, and age eleven, in grades kindergarten, first grade, second grade, third grade, fourth grade, and fifth grade progress and excel in their dancing, singing, and acting skills. Each week the children will perform a short musical production on Friday. A typical day at theatre camp includes singing class, acting class, lunch time, painting and creating scenery, dance class, and rehearsal for our musical theatre production performance on Friday. The theatre camp day is from nine to five. There is early drop-off. Parents can drop-off their child as early as 7:30AM. Parents can pick their child up as late as 6:00PM. ìTo be or not to be, that is the question.î This summer the answer is ìto beî at theatre camp! What better place to go to theatre camp than the Dance Connection? Children from kindergarten through fifth grade can attend this amazing camp in week long sessions. Our camp is conveniently located in Hillsborough, New Jersey, near Somerville, Bridgewater, and Montgomery. Our fun filled theatre camp provides children with a safe environment to explore their artistic side and express themselves. Each week long session consists of only thirty students, which means there is plenty of staff attention for each child. This also means that each child gets a chance to shine and to enjoy the unique bond that each cast develops. Enthusiasm, dedication, and safety are key for any successful camp. Our highly qualified teachers will make this an experience your child will never forget! Each staff member is experienced with children and in their field, and all staff members are certified in first aid and CPR. We pride ourselves in creative a safe, fun place for your child to grow. Camp activities run from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., but our convenient extended hours allow drop off as early as 7:30 a.m. and pick up as late as 6:00 p.m. to accommodate your schedule.
